montreal guitar trio

The Montreal Guitar Trio came and electrified our community with their dynamic, talented and very interactive show on Sunday, March 16. Glenn, Sébastien and Marc displayed an awesome array of talents and styles and they were gracious enough to allow a display of my instruments at their performance. After the show was over they then played my selection of guitars for a further hour and a half. A lot of fun was had by all, with wine and cheese and accompanied by a huge variety of musical genres and experimentation.

guitars by hand show

The Guitars by Hand Show in Nanaimo on November 10th was by all accounts a rousing success. There were eighteen luthiers showing their wares proudly and I was told by the gallery manager that is was the busiest day they had ever had in her eight years there! Here are some pictures of the fun.

the axiom

My new axiom project is underway. A guitar that's easier to play!

The goal: A guitar with special design features that enhance playability and tone. Easier to play especially for people with any kind of repetitive stress syndrome, tendonitis or other nagging pain.

The features: a wedge shaped body to bring the guitar closer to the body; a raised fingerboard to allow easier access to the upper frets even without a cutaway and an armrest bevel where the picking arm crosses the lower bout. All or part this can be added to any of my models at extra cost.

The first instrument of this type can be seen on the model page 'Classical'.

a resonator in happy hands

Sam's guitar is now done and he's one happy camper. His wife, Andrea complains that he needs to put it down and get to work. The peghead features his business's logo inlaid in pearl and a gear is inlaid into the fretboard to reflect his keen cycle interest.

shop guitar finds a home

Beaudin and Hal dropped by to try out some guitars. They played everything in the shop and made some fine music. Finally Beaudin spied my shop guitar on the wall by the CNC machine and had to try it. He loved the bass tones and took it home.
